Atlantic City’s 150th Birthday Celebration Continues

Throughout The Summer



Atlantic City, NJ-- Atlantic City's 150th Birthday Celebration continues with movies at dusk on the Boardwalk, dancers celebrating their heritage along with Atlantic City’s history, and a speaker series taking place throughout the summer.

The whole family is invited to enjoy movies at Kennedy Plaza on the Boardwalk on Sunday evenings. Starting at dusk, a different movie is featured each week. Playing on July 25 is My Fair Lady staring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. Several different movies highlight August including, Fiddler on the Roof, August 1; Yellow Submarine, August 8; Easter Parade, August 15; Anchors Aweigh, August 22; and Cabin In The Sky, August 29. Finishing out the series in September is Guys and Dolls on September 5 and West Side Story on September 12.


Dancers celebrating Atlantic City’s 150th Birthday along with their own unique ethnicity will perform at Kennedy Plaza each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. July 21 will feature dancers representing Peru. Other dancers will represent cultures from the following areas: Israel, August 4; Puerto Rico, August 11; China, August 18; the Philippines, August 25; and Columbia, September 2.


Brighton Park between Bally’s Atlantic City and Sands Casino Hotel is the place to be on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Sponsored by Cooper Levenson, the public is invited to attend a series of lectures each week. On July 20 is Nelson Johnson, who will discuss his book “Boardwalk Empire.” On July 27 is the Reverend Milton Hendricks’, “Choir Gospel.” A fashion show will highlight the August 3 event and August 10 will feature your favorite Atlantic City radio personalities. On August 17 is J. Van Meter’s “Last Good Times” and on August 25 is a special Steel Pier Big Band Concert.
