Atlantic City, NJ_  The Atlantic City Surf have agreed to terms with both old and new faces for the 2005 season Surf General Manager Mario Perrucci announced Friday.  In addition to resigning 2005 All-Star starting pitcher Andy Zwirchitz, the team also signed former Camden Riversharks starter Lincoln Mikkelsen.

Zwirchitz, a two time All-Star, led Surf starters with nine wins while posting a 4.14 ERA.  Mikkelsen was voted as the top pitcher in the Atlantic League last season, going 12-4 with a 3.01 ERA.  He struck out 96 and walked 40 in 158.2 innings.  He will serve both as a player and as part of the coaching staff.

“We are pleased to bring back the nucleus of last year’s team along with some new players,” Perrucci said.  “Particularly having a player/coach of the caliber of Lincoln Mikkelsen is a huge asset.”

The Surf also has signed fan favorites outfielder Ozzie Timmons, shortstop Raul Marval, and the speedy second baseman Demetrius Heath.  Timmons was in the top three in batting average, homeruns, and RBI before being signed by Norfolk (Mets AAA).  Heath led the league with 48 bases in 67 games before heading to Rancho Cucamonga (Angels A).

Other players who have agree to terms for the 2005 season are RHP Mark Persails, Kyle Goldwater and Rob Corrado.  Catchers Melvin Rosario and Kevin McDonald along with infielder Jorge Diaz have also signed for the upcoming season.

The Surf opens the season on Thursday April 28th against the Newark Bears and hosts the 2005 Atlantic League All-Star Game on July 13th.  Season tickets and ticket packages are on sale with discounts until March 1st.  Individual tickets will go on sale at the end of March.  For ticket information contact the Surf ticket office at (609) 344-7873 or visit our web site at www.ACSurf.com.
